Hey, this is former CCGS Alexander Henry. It's been in the historic dry docks in Kingston since 2010 as part of the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes. Sadly a developer bought the land and dock; the museum and the Alexander Henry can't afford to stay. What you see here is the old ship already outside its dock earlier today on its way to Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, then to Picton and an uncertain future. The crane was used to lift the dock gate. I understand there was some rush to get this done before water levels drop as they do in the summer but I didn't know it was happening today. I'm not sure many people did. I'm used to seeing the old ship there on Ontario St and will miss it but it didn't get much attention or use. It's one of those nostalgic things that seem kind of nice to keep but that isn't really very useful or loved by many anymore. Bye Alexander Henry! I'm glad I got the chance to see you on your way out.
